Thanks for posting this stor...Wonderful blog John!<br /><br />Thanks for posting this story (and thanks OMG Team for your efforts to stop these horrible events).<br /><br />Why is National Geographic portraying these as neutral or slightly positive events? If you follow the above linked photo (http://news.nationalgeographic.com/news/2009/05/photogalleries/weird-american-festivals-missions/photo2.html), NG says that the festival is "culling" the rattlesnake population, and that the snakes are killed for scientific and commercial purposes.
